Maintaining User Profile

User profiles are created for each user by System Administrators and store information about a user's personal settings, such as their language preferences, login credentials and default parameters. This article will help you with maintenance of user profile.

Changing your own data:

Select System User Profile User Data from the menu bar. The panel for maintaining user profiles appears.

There are 3 tabs:
  • Address.
  • Defaults.
  • Parameters.

  • Name, address, phone number, and email address of the user are all listed under the Address tab.

  • The SAP settings are selected using the Defaults tab.
    • Start menu – here a custom default menu can be set up
    • Logon Language – defaulted by system.
    • Decimal Notation, Date Format, and Time Format –
    • should all be customized to the region in which you conduct business.
    • Spool Control - printer configuration
    • Personal Time Zone – If your time zone is different from the computer's, select Personal Time Zone and configure it.

  • In SAP, default values are stored in the parameters tab. For instance, you can configure the Parameters tab to always default a sales organization on the sales order creation screen.

Finding the Parameter ID is the first step. You can accomplish that by using a transaction with the field you wish to default to.
Parameter IDs

  • To set a field as the default, click it and then press [F1].
  • The field's help screen appears. Select Technical Information from the menu.
  • Find the parameter ID. It is VKO for this field.
  • Return to the Maintain User Profile screen.

In the Parameter ID field, enter the parameter ID (in this case, "VKO").
  • In the Parameter value field, enter the sales organization, which is DE01 in this instance.
  • To finish, select the Enter button from the main toolbar.
  • Every time you utilize a transaction that has the Sales Organization field, company code DE01 is now the default.
