How do sleep patterns affect reaction times and decision-making during gaming?

I've noticed that when I don't get enough sleep, I play worse. My reactions slow down, and in general, I make bad decisions. Recently, for example, in one game my friends and I almost won, but at some point I just didn't notice the enemy creeping up from behind. It happened after I had been up all night studying for exams. Does anyone else notice how lack of sleep affects the game?

You're right, lack of sleep definitely affects reactions. I've also noticed that I just can't concentrate after a bad night's sleep, and I often lose control in a game. In fact, studies show that lack of sleep can slow down reactions and impair decision-making ability. This doesn't just apply to gaming, but to everyday life as well. It even affects cognitive functions like attention and memory. I found an article that has a lot to say on this topic: https://thenewsmill.com/2024/11/the-science-of-gaming-how-to-maintain-performance-and-wellbeing/. It mentions that improving sleep quality can significantly improve gaming performance. When I started monitoring my sleep patterns, I noticed an improvement not only in gaming, but also in my daily activities.

Interesting topic! I haven't thought about it, but I also notice that if I don't get enough sleep, it's harder to focus the next day, both in games and in life. It seems like a small thing, but it makes a big difference. When you don't get enough sleep, no matter how experienced you are, your perception and reactions aren't as quick. By the way, has anyone tried playing when they're just a little tired? It often happens that you play on autopilot and don't notice how you lose focus.
